News William Ted Evans, 75, of Bellevue, died on May 1, 1989, at his home. Mr. Evans was born in Crossville, Tenn. He moved to Battle Creek in and to Bellevue in 1963. He was employed as a welder for Post Division of General Foods for 20 years and retired in 1964. He was an announcer for the former WVOC radio station in Battle Creek during the '60s. He was a veteran of the Navy during World War II and the Michigan National Guard and a member of the Navy Reserve. He was active in bluegrass music in Michigan and managed the TUG River Valley Boys in the late 1980s and received the Bluegrass Ambassador of Goodwill award in 1985. Services were May 4 at Shaw Funeral Home, Lehman Chapel, Bellevue, with Stanley W. Day of the Marshall Church of Christ officiating. Interment in Kalamo Cemetery.
