The funeral was held on Wednesday in the Seventh Day Adventist church, Grand Ledge, with Elder S.T. Shadel of Grand Rapids, officiating. Interment was by the side of her husband in Oakwood. An obituary will be printed next week. Grand Ledge Independent-May 18, 1923 Mrs. John Fishell Jenette Anderson was born in Ohio Nov. 30, 1835. At an early age she moved with her parents to Delhi, Mich., where she was married to John Fishell of that place in 1853. Mr. and Mrs. Fishell were farmers for some time in Delhi Center (now Holt), finally selling their property and moving to their new home two miles east of Grand Ledge, where Mr. Fishell died about 23 years ago. She has since lived in the family of her son Martin continuously till last fall when she went to the home of her son Andrew in East LeRoy, near Battle Creek, to spend the winter visiting in the family, returning to her home about two weeks ago. Mrs. Fishell was a true pioneer and knew the hardships incident to the life of those stalwart men and women who made it possible for the rising generation to enjoy the works of their hands, by putting their hands to the taks of hewing out of those wild conditions the many beautiful homes which now adorn our lovely landscape. To those hardy pioneers we owe much more than it is possible to give. About three years ago Mrs. Fishell fell and inured her hip from which she never fully recovered. She had since been more of less dependent on others, which was mortifying, as she was of an ambitious turn of mind always wishing to busy herself with helpfulness to others. She was of a sunny and winsome disposition, always looking upon the bright side and dispensing courage and good cheer. She loved home and thought much of her family, esteeming their needs above her own. Over, 65 years ago she with her husband became converted to the faith of the Seventh Day Adventisits and never could it be said that she belied her faith. To her five sons were born, Frank, Merritt, Melvin, Martin and Andrew. All survive her except Merritt and Melvin who died many years ago. She is also survived by one sister, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. dz
