FLATHAU Carl Flathau was born in Germany November 21, 1846 and at the time of his death, July 16, 1905, was fifty-eight years, nine months and twenty-seven days old. He came to America when twenty years of age and remained here for five years when he returned to Germany. He remained there a few months then returned to the United States and came to Ann Arbor. Here he married Bertha Schulke, and after living there for a time moved to Saginaw. After locating at various times in other places he came to Kalamo and purchased a farm where he resided until moving to Vermontville in 1895 where he has since resided. For the past three years Mr Flathau has been sick most of the time and was confined to the bed all of the time for the past few months. He is survived by his wife, two sons and six daughters, a brother and two sisters. The funeral was held Tuesday, July 18th, at his late residence, Rev. Wm. Haynes officiating and interment was at Woodlawn.
