HOLTON KILLED IN CRASH Two Others Injured as Holton Car Hits Oil Truck Trailer Tuesday Morning on M-39 Charlie "Red" Holton, 24, was killed outright and Mr and Mrs Maurice Forshey were injured in an automobile accident a little east of town on M-39 at about 3:30 Tuesday morning, as the three were returning to Sunfield in Mr. Holton's car. Mr Holton driving, after a visit at the home of Mr. Holton's sister, Mrs Leta Smith, in Grand Ledge. The Holton car in passing two oil trucks going east, one towing the other crashed into a trailer of the second one. Mr. Holton was evidently hit in the face by some object, which scraped over the hood and smashed the side of the car killing him instantly. Mr. and Mrs Forshey were both badly cut and bruised. They were taken to their home in this village after being treated at the scene of the accident by Dr. Huyck. State police, Deputy Sheriff Clair McWhorter and Coroner A. C. Cheney visited the scene of the accident and made an investigation. They reported the trucks which were owned by Frank Bair of Grand Ledge and the first one driven by Duane Hough and the second by Gerald Hough, both of Grand Ledge, were on the right side of the road and placed no blame on the drivers. Holton was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren D. Holton, who now resides a little south of Hoytville in Roxand Township. He was born in Sunfield Township, April 14, 1913, and had always lived in this vicinity. For a time back he had been residing at the VanWormer home north and east of town and had been employed on the railroad. His parents moved from this village to Charlotte last winter and a short time ago moved to Roxand. Besides parents, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs Lottie Eastman, Mrs Leta Smith and Mrs Bernice Eastman of Grand Ledge, and Mrs Waneta VanWormer of Sunfield: and one brother, Chester Dean of Roxand. Funeral services will be held at the Mapes funeral home Friday at 2 p.m. with burial in Sunfield Cemetery
