He was born at Marcellus Onondaga County, New York, on the 16th of April 1828. He moved to Inkster, this state, with his parents at the age of seven years and there grew to manhood. Here was married to Miss Sophronia Bliss in the year 1846 and they have lived together in wedded happiness for over 57 years. From here he moved to Ypsilanti where the family lived for over twenty years, he holding a responsible position on the Michigan Central railroad as carpenter and bridge builder and having to go from one end of t the road to the other in attending to his duties in this line. From Ypsilanti he moved to Barry County, going onto a farm near the Barry County poor farm, having traded his home in Ypsilanti for it. After living here for a time, the family moved to Coats Grove, disposing of the farm, and about eight years ago with his family came to Vermontville where he has lived a quiet life among us ever since. He became a member of the Masonic fraternity, joining both the Blue Lodge and Chapter of Ypsilanti and the Knights Templar at Ann Arbor and was still a member of the Blue Lodge at the time of his death, but had with drawn from the other bodies. The funeral services were conducted at the house on Sunday at 2 o'clock by Rev. Haynes and was largely attended. The Masonic Lodge of this village attended the funeral and took charge of the remains after the services at the house were concluded, conducting the beautiful Masonic funeral service at the grave. While living a quiet undemonstrative life among us, he had made many friends and he will be missed by them in the future. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to many friends and neighbors who rendered them kindly aid during the illness and death of Mr. Randall.
