All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ Lake Odessa Wave--September 29, 1912 Obituary--Mark Gray was born in Norfolk Co., England, February 20, 1836 and died at his home in Sunfield Township, September 21, 1912. Aged 76 years, 7 mo., 1 da. He spent the first 19 years of his life in England. In 1856 he came to America locating in Orleans Co. New York, remaining there until 1860. He then came to Eaton Co, Mich. and purchased the farm where he spent the remainder of his life. In 1862, Mr. Gray was united in marriage to Miss Sabrina Davis of Barry Co., Mich. To this union were born eleven children, four sons and seven daughters, viz: Mrs. Phoebe Williams, deceased; Chester; Rosa Bell Gray, who died at the age of 18 years; Homer; Mrs. Ida Leak, Philip E. who died at the age of seven mo; Oscar, Mrs. Len VanBuren, Mrs. Emma Willitts, deceased; Mrs. Minnie Trowbridge and Mrs. William Willetts. There remains to mourn his loss his widow, seven children, ten grand children and five great grand children besides many other relatives and friends. Early in his life he had experience in the Christian religion. Having wandered from the fold he again in the later periods of his life heeded the all of his master, acknowledged Christ as his Savior and died happy in the thought of the Blessed Redeemer. Mr. Gray was the last of a family of ten children, four daughters and six sons. His parents, Hohn and Betsey (Massom) Gray passed their entire lives in England. The daughters remained in England with the parents, the sons coming to America. Mr. Gray during his life took no especial interest in public affairs, rather being contennt with the mone life. it seemingly being his desire to live in harmony and peace with his neighbors and friends. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday at 10 o'clock conducted by the Rev. Jarvis of Woodbury. Interment was in the Lakeside Cemetery. Those attending the funeral from away were Mr. and Mrs. William Willetts of Motgan, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Davis of Harbor Beach, Mich.; Mrs. Geo. Taylor of Nunica, Mich; Mr. Willie Gray of Nunica, Mich; Mrs. Milton Brown of Lake Odessa, Mich. dz
