RITES HELD MONDAY FOR RETIRED TELEPHONE OPERATOR
   Funeral services were held for Myrtle Stedman, 80, of Sunfield on Monday, 
December 17, from the Mapes-Fisher Funeral Home. Mrs Stedman passed away 
Friday at a nursing home in Hastings.
   She was born in Sunfield Township, a daughter of Perry and 
Lucy (Bishop) Welch. Her life was spent in the Sunfield area. Mrs Stedman 
worked many years as a telephone operator in Sunfield.
   Four sisters survive.
  An only son died in 1945.
   Officiating at the 2:00 rites was the Rev. Ralph Kallweit of the Sunfield 
United Methodist church. Interment was in Welch Cemetery, Sunfield Township.
   Serving, as pallbearers were Donald Feess, Rex Jarman, Vance Forshey, 
Gerald Hetchler, Norman Hager, and Fred Stambaugh.
