He was married to Ann E. Coy, May 2, 1853. Nine children were born to them, three died in infancy. Six are still left. Ernest of Vermontville, Mrs Emma Duffy of Sebewa, Mrs Effie Dickinson of Sunfield, Barton Satterlee of Seattle, Washington, Mrs Myrtle Haywood of Danby, and Mrs Lena Lamb of Vermontville. In 1868 Mr. Satterlee and his family moved to Michigan and settled in Chester Township where he lived till about twelve years ago, when he moved into this village where he lived until his death. Mr. Satterlee was one of the pioneers of this county. He was a man of sterling qualities. His early advantages were meager but he did much to educate himself. He was a great reader, not only of the topics of the day, but of history, ancient and modern. He was a successful farmer and a man of business ability. He was a fearless man, but honest and conscientious in all his dealings with men. He was respected by all his neighbors and loved by his family.
