Hazel L. Smith, 93, died on March 2, 1989, after a short illness.
Mrs. Smith & her husband, Pete, who preceded her in death in 1942, located
in Charlotte in 1923. In 1944, she and Amy Osborn opened a store on Main
Street & operated it until Amy died in 1969. [Smith & Osborn's Clothing]

She was a member of the Congregational Church and was known as Grandma
Haze to all the children in her neighborhood. There was hardly a day that
she did not get little visitors who would drop in for a treat, a pat on
the head, and open ears for their little problems.

Services were on March 4 at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Interment was
in Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte.
