Today (Thursday) Glen Turner, 58, committed suicide at about 7:00 a.m. today (Thursday) at his home a little over a mile east of town on M-43. He went out of the house and his wife supposed he was going to feed the chickens, as was his usual custom. Not returning as usual, his wife went to look for him and upon opening the back door found his lifeless body hanging from a rope with had been fastened to a rafter of the porch. Evidently Mr. Turner had climbed upon the arms of a chair to fasten the rope and then jumped from the chair. Neighbors were sent for and Special Deputy Sheriff Chas. Campbell of this place and Coroner Cheney of Charlotte were called. After and investigation, the officers pronounced it a case of suicide. Mr. turner was born in Danby township, Ionia County, and moved with his parents to near Belding where they spent some years and then they bought a farm in Sebewa Township and it was then that young Turner commenced his mercantile career working in the Cornell store at Sebewa Corners. The Turners then moved to Sunfield and Glenn bought an interest in a general store here with J. D. Norris. He sold out his interest in this store to Arnie Ives and started in business at Shaytown where he remained about a year and then moved his store to Sunfield about 1920. In 1931 Mr. Turner's store was destroyed by fire along with two others and others damaged. Mr Turner then bought the store building adjoining the Stinchcomb Shop and again entered business there, a business he conducted several years. He then moved onto the farm in Danby and a little later bought the farm on M-43. He is survived by a widow, Pansey, also a grandson, Johnny Thomas.
