WILCOX SUNFIELD - Services for Fred H. Wilcox, 95, oldest Sunfield resident, who died Tuesday at his home, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Mapes-Fisher Funeral Home here. A retired farmer, Mr. Wilcox was a charter and 50 year member of Sunfield Lodge 455, F& AM. He is survived by his wife; two sons; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Burial will be in Sunfield Cemetery. VERMONTVILLE SCRAPBOOK #5 Page 132 SUNFIELD SENTENIEL, date unknown SUNFIELD'S OLDEST CITIZEN LAID TO REST FRIDAY Fred Herbert Wilcox, Sunfield's oldest resident, passed away at his home on Washington Street Wednesday, August 3, at the age of 95 years. He was born June 9, 1871 at Lyons, Michigan, the son of Henry Hopson and Sophia Burns Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox moved to the local area in 1897 from Ionia County. On October 24, 1897 he married Sarah Bishop who preceded him in death. In 1951 he married Marian B. Paddock of Detroit on July 13. He was a charter and 50 year member of Sunfield F & AM Lodge No. 455. He was a retired farmer. Surviving besides the widow, are two sons; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Mapes-Fisher funeral Home on August 5. The Rev. Clinton Galloway, minister of the Sunfield Methodist Church, officiated at the two o'clock rites. Interment was in Sunfield Cemetery. Casket bearers were LaVerne Wilcox, Jack Wilcox, Raymond Wilcox, Lynwood Hynes, Roy VanHouten and James Wilcox.
