Jesse Irene Dowding Meyers
b. 13 Aug 1922 / 25 Dec 1982

Additional Comments:
Robert W. Meyers was the sixth child of seven children and the 3rd son of 
Clarence F. and Mary E. Meyers.

Irene Jesse Dowding was the fifth child of six children and the 2nd daughter 
born to Clifton James Dowding by his first wife, Louise E. Duckham.  Irene J. 
Dowding's given name was Jesse Irene.  However, she never cared for the name 
Jesse and insisted upon being called by her middle name, Irene.  Later in life 
she would petition the courts to have her name legally changed to Irene J. 
dropping the name Jesse entirely.

When Jesse I. Dowding was a very young child, her biological mother (Louise E. 
Duckham Dowding) left her husband and children for another man.  A divorce was 
obtained and Clifton J. Dowding was left to raise these six children by 
himself.  He remarried in later years and increased his family with an 
additional six children.

Irene's biological Mother tragically lost her life as a victim of a 
murder/suicide in Albion, Michigan in 1941 by the very man she had left 
Clifton Dowding for.

On the 24th of September, 1941 Robert W. Meyers and Jesse Irene Dowding were 
united in marriage, a loving marriage that gave them two children, one boy and 
one girl.

Robert W. and Irene J. Meyers were my parents.
