Speer was the son of David Speer (Ireland) and Eliza Boyle (Penn), male, white, married, married at age 27, no children, born on September 15, 1829 NY and died onApril 4, 1903 in Eaton Rapids, Eaton Co., Michigan at the age of 73 years 6 months and 20 days, cause of death jaundice evidently due to chronic disease of the liver and chronic diarrhea. Burial was on April 7, 1903 in the city cemetery, Eaton Rapids, Michigan. Death certificate shows Sarah H. Speer was the daughter of Benj. Thompson and Catherine Herman (both of Pennsylvania), female, white, widow, married at age 33, no children, occupation Millinery, born February 19, 1834 Ohio and died on August 26, 1909 in Eaton Rapids, Eaton Co., Michigan at the age of 75 years 6 months and 7 days, cause of death Peritonitis.
