This was easily managed and possession of the house was taken about seven thirty while Mr and Mrs Ambrose were away from home, Mrs. Church getting Mrs Ambrose to come to her home after tea to see about some important matter and Hervey getting Frank off in another direction on an important mission. When friends numbering about forty had invaded the home, Mrs Church accompanied Mrs Ambrose home to find her daughters whom she thought were with Miss Zella Ambrose. Mrs Ambrose on entering the house was completely overwhelmed and Frank on coming home was at once made speechless, till he discovered he had not had an opportunity to put on a clean pair of cuffs and black his shoes. As it was, the surprise was complete. The evening was very pleasantly spent in playing progressive flinch till the morning hours, when H. G. Barber in a few words presented each with a beautiful chair in which they might rest and enjoy themselves, after which a sumptuous lunch was served the happy couple by their friends who had seen to it that a liberal supply had been brought with them for the event. A most pleasant evening was spent and all left wishing that they might gather at a similar event twenty-five years hence.
