MARTIN-MARTENS Miss Ruth Maxine Martin, daughter of Mrs. Laura Martin and the late Wilbur C. Martin became the bride of Charles E. Martens, son of Mrs. Arthur (Martens) Maurer of Charlotte. Approximately one hundred & fifty guest witnessed the ceremony which was performed by Father Patrick McGuinness at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlotte on February 22, 1941. Miss Eileen Ripley sang the "Ave Maria" and Miss Elizabeth Suerdick played the organ. Altar boys were Tommy Martin, nephew of the bride, and Bob Middaugh, a friend. (Here it tells a detailed description of the flowers, dresses, etc.) Miss Marie Garvey of Lansing was bridesmaid. Dwight Durner, Jr. of Detroit was best man. Ushers were Harold Martin & Arlin Martin brothers of the bride. Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served at the Dew Drop Inn. The young couple are now at home to their many friends at 319 S. Sheldon St., in the apartment of the bride's mother. Mrs. Martens is employed as stenographer at the R. W. Carr Granite Company in Charlotte and Mr. Martens has employment at the Community Oil Station.
