It was a complete success, for when the guests began to march in from Vermontville, Charlotte, Sunfield and Roxand, with well filled baskets, the hostess was very curious to know what it all meant, the host was in the field at work not dreaming that his friends were stealing a march on him. However, he walked meekly in and they both calmly surrendered and we had free access to the home. As some had come from a distance, not many long speeches were made, until the months of hunger were stopped. A bountiful repast was enjoyed, after which the table was spread with many useful pieces of china, brought as souvenirs. The bride and bridegroom were ushered into the parlor, but as the one was not present who joined them in holy wedlock twenty years ago, Rev. Mosher was called on to officiate, and they renewed their vows to take each other for at least forty-five years or more, if they lived that long. After the little merry making and congratulations, the guests left with a wish that they might live to celebrate their golden wedding. - One who was there.
