Austin, a former respected citizen and businessman of this place, died very suddenly of pneumonia at his home near Onaway on Monday. Mr. Austin's wife and family and two brothers, George and Nelson, brought the body here Tuesday for interment. The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church by Rev. J.L. Countermine, D.D, PhD. Wednesday at 2 o'clock. The K.P. and M.W.A. lodges, of which he was a member, both attended in a body. Mr. Austin was well and favorably known throughout the north country being associated with the lumbering interests of this vicinity. He leaves a wife, five children and three brothers and one sister and numerous friends to morn his loss. He leaves his family a $3,000 insurance policy. Mr. Austin died at the age of 42 years. Additional Comments: Newspaper Article from the Carson City Record: May 18, 1900 - Word was received here this week of the death of Thomas F. Austin, a former resident of this place. He was a clerk in several stores here and at one time was postmaster. Sixteen or seventeen years ago, he went to the northern part of the state and has been connected in different enterprises. He leaves a widow and five children.
