Hinkley, 63 years old,member of the state senate from 1927 to 1929, representing the 13th senatorial district, member of the Flushing school board for 15 years, and president of the board for nine years, died late Wednesday night at his Pierson road home following an illness of several weeks. He was born in Flushing township, Nov. 19, 1870, the son of John and Althea French Hinkley, and had spent his entire life in this community. He was a prominent farmer and took an active part in community affairs. He was a member of the Flushing M.E. church, the Flushing Farmers' club which he organized in 1914, and an active member of Flushing Grange. He was a member of Genesee Valley commandery, No. 15, Knights Templar, Flushing chapter of the Eastern Star, and the Bay City Consistory. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 from the Pierson road home under the auspices of the Knights Templar. The Rev. S.S. Schofield of Romulus, Mich., former pastor of the Flushing M.E. church, will officiate. Mr. Hinkley married Alberta Jeffers, Nov. 19, 1889, at Flushing. He leaves his widow two children, Mrs. Robert Clayton of Los Angles, Calif. and Waynard Hinkley at home: four sisters, Mrs Bertha Steele of California, Mrs M.D. Phelps of Flushing and Mrs. Fred Hull and Mrs. Lulu Huyck of Flint, and three grandchildren.
