Glenn D. Anderson, 26, of Gladwin, who was reported missing in France on October 8th, has since been reported killed in action on October 13th, according to word received by his wife last week. Son of Mr and Mrs David Anderson, of Sage township, Glenn was born here on May 24, 1918. He was graduated from the Gladwin High School in June of 1936. On December 7, 1940, he was married to the former Miss Ida May Codling, of Gladwin. He was an active member of the Riley Evangelical Church and was superintendent of the Sunday School there at the time of his induction into the army. He worked at the Gladwin Flouring Mills here before entering service. Following his induction into the Army on March 16, 1944, he was sent to Camp Walters, Texas, where he received 17 weeks of basic training. He was given a 14-day furlough which he spent here with his family and then was sent to Fort Meade, Maryland, where he remained until he embarked for service overseas about September 1st. Glenn D (nmn) Anderson is buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint- Avold, France, which is the largest American World War II cemetery in Europe.
