Gladwin County Record - 26 Jan 1983
Hollis W. Atherton, 74, of 1774 Hay Rd., Beaverton, died Friday, Jan. 24, in 
the Gladwin Area Hospital.  Born in Durand on May 11, 1908, he attended Gaines 
schools and moved to 
Gladwin County in 1947. He was a mechanic in small engine repair and a member 
of the Daniel's Band Church of Highwood. He was married to the former Nellie 
Granger in Mt. Morris.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Raymond of Flint, Henry of Appca, 
Fla. and James of Beaverton; 2 daughters, Mrs. Victor (Mary) Crook of  
Beaverton and Mrs. Raymond (Martha) DeFoy of Clare; one brother, Clark of West 
Branch; 2 sisters, Mrs. Nora Clark of West Branch and Mrs. Gertrude Border of 
Clio; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. 
James Hoggard officiated and burial was in the Billings Township Cemetery.
