Gladwin County Record - June 5, 1991
Mrs. Nellie R. Atherton, 81, of 1774 Hay Rd., Beaverton, died Tuesday, May 28, 
1991, at her home after a long illness.  Born in Gaines, March 8, 1910, she 
moved to Gladwin County in 1947 from Genesee County. Mrs. Atherton was a 
member of the Highwood Church of 
Daniel's Band.
The former Nellie Granger, she was married to Hollis Atherton in 1930 in 
Durand. He preceded her in death January 1983.
Surviving are 3 sons, Raymond of Flint, Henry and James of Gladwin; 2 
daughters, Mrs. Victor (Mary) Crook of Beaverton and Mrs. Raymond (Martha) 
DeFoy of Clare; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Jane Granger of Swartz Creek; 21 
grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Rites were held Friday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. 
The Rev. Wesley Hoggard officiated and burial was in the Billings Township 
Cemetery.
