Barnard, 81, of Gladwin, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000 at his home. He moved to Gladwin in 1975. Born Oct. 22, 1918 in Detroit, he was the son of Frank and Nettie Benaway Barnard. He worked for the Department of Street Railway for the City of Detroit. Albert married Anne Toner, Feb. 25, 1945. She preceded him in death March 6, 1997. He then married Mary Oliver, Oct. 18, 1997. He was a member of the Redford Twp. Eagles #2265, Harrison Moose Lodge, and was known as “Barnardo the Great,” for his magical acts. Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Richard and wife Joann of Howell, Charles and wife Donna of Redford Twp., and Clarence and Lisa of Gladwin; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Albert Jack and one brother, Willis. Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Sisson Funeral Home with Dr. Rev. Deane Wyllys officiating. Burial was in Arbutus Cemetery.
