Mrs. Myrtle C. Bergman, 61, of near Beaverton, died Saturday evening after a four-month illness. that resulted following a stroke. Her son, David Warren Bergman, 33, of near Beaverton, died Sunday evening at the Veterans hospital in Ann Arbor following a short illness. Mrs. Bergman, the former Miss Myrtle Parkinson, was born Oct. 2, 1895 in Berrien county and married Lawrence Bergman May 31, 1914 in Beavertn. With her husband she had resided on a farm in Tobacco township. She had been a resident of the county since a child. Before her illness, she held the office of township clerk. She was a member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren and of the Ladies Aid society of the church. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence; four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Arehart, of Beaverton; Mrs. Eleanor F. Tucker, of Albuquerque, N. M., and Mrs. Jean Berner, and Miss Ann Bergman, both of Midland; three sons, Lawrence W., Thomas D. and Calvin J., all of Beaverton; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Percy Parkinson, Detroit; and one sister, Mrs. Grace Crowell of Beaverton. Funeral services for Mrs. Bergman were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Beaverton Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Earl Atkinson officiating. Burial was in the Dale cemetery. David W. Bergman was born May 27, 1923 in Beaverton and married the former Miss Belva Murphy in June of 1947. He was a veteran of World War II, having spent four years in the service, two overseas. He had been employed as an operating construction engineer until his illness. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Peter, five, and James, seven; his father, Lawrence; four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m., at the Dale Methodist Church, with the Rev. Larry Grubaugh officiating.
