Blades, 86, well known Tobacco Township resident and former township supervisor, died Thursday, April 5, in the Midland Hospital Center following a long illness. Born in South Lyon on May 23, 1892, he had spent most of his life in Gladwin County. Mr. Blades was supervisor of Tobacco Township for 30 years until 1969. He was a trustee on the township board from 1970 to 1974. Mr. Blades was a farmer and also worked in construction. He and the former Virginia Davis Kennedy were married on July 17, 1933, in Lansing. Besides his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Adrian and Mike of Beaverton and Clare of Rochester; 2 daughters, Mrs. George (Jeanne) Rieley of Lake City and Mrs. Edward (Barbara) Morgan of Taylor; one step-son, William Kennedy of Beaverton; one step daughter, Mrs Myra Scoby of Mt. Clemens; one sister, Mrs. Ella Dennison of Williamston; 15 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. A daughter, Donna Cornell preceded him in death. Services were held Monday at 1 p.m from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. The Rev. Vernon Wyllys officiated and burial was in the Dale Cemetery.
