Blades, 81, of Gladwin, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Gladwin after a long illness. Born July 31, 1920 in Birmingham, she was the daughter of Robert and Estella (May) Wuelfing. Mildred married William Blades, Dec. 2, 1939 in South Bend, Ind. He preceded her in death in 1995. She was a resident of Gladwin County for 62 years and previously lived in Pontiac. She was a packager for Vercon in Coleman, retiring in 1982. Surviving are two daughters, Florence and husband Ray Peterson, and Wilma and husband Ron MAXWELL, all of Beaverton; one son, Forest C. and wife Lynn of Interlochen; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one half sister, Iris and husband Roger Bane of Houghton Lake. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gladys Walters in 1985; two grandsons, Ronald Maxwell and James Walters; and seven brothers and sisters. Services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton, with Elder Tom Rodabaugh officiating. Burial was in Tobacco Township (Dale) Cemetery in Beaverton.
