Gladwin County Record dated 03-23/1911 Column - 6 Page - 1
Alexander Blodgett was born in Indiantown, Iowa, June 2, 1862, and was killed 
while employed as conductor of a switching crew in Chicago, Ill., March 10, 
1911, aged 48 years, 9 months and 8 days. Deceased had been in the employ of 
the railroad company for 28 years and was a member of the Order of Railroad 
Conductors for 23 years. He moved his family to Tobacco township Gladwin 
County six years ago and had intended this to be his last year with the 
railroad company when he was coming to enjoy the home they had worked so hard 
to gain. 
  He leaves a wife, one son, one daughter, a mother and two sisters, besides 
many other relatives and friends to mourn. The son was working with his father 
when the accident occurred that cost him his life. Deceased had been a Mason 
for 13 years. Was a member of the Chapter, a 32nd degree Mason and a 
principles of the fraternity, Beaverton Lodge No. 453, F. & A.M., of which he 
had been a member for one year had charge of the funeral services which were 
held in the Edenville M. E. church, March 13. Rev. H. B. Johnson of Beaverton 
preached the sermon. Interment in Dale cemetery. He is the first member of the 
Beaverton lodge to be laid away.
