BROWN RITES FRIDAY Robert M. Brown, 74, former mayor of Beaverton, died Tuesday after a five week illness. Born in Akron, Tuscola County, on March 12, 1889, he was married to the former Isabelle Mercer on Sept. 12, 1920 in Beaverton. Mr. Brown owned and operated a store in Beaverton for many years until his retirement. Prior to that he operated a bowling alley and theatre there for several years and was employed by the State Highway Department for 10 years. Following his retirement, he served Beaverton City as mayor for 1o years and was city assessor at the time of his death. Mr. Brown was also a member of the county board of election canvassers and had served as its chairman for the past several years. Surviving are his wife, Isabelle; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Wright, of Napoleon, Ohio; two sons, Robert J., of Los Angles, Calif., and Dale of Beaverton; a sister, Mrs. James Stephens, of Fostoria; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m at the Beaverton Methodist Church with the Rev. Gordon Showers officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge.
