Ava M. Calhoun, 74, of 3594 S. (?) died Sunday, July 4, 1993, at her home 
after a long illness. Born in Clare County on Nov. 26, 1918, she had spent 
most of her life in Gladwin County. She was a member of the Beaverton United 
Methodist Women and had worked at Lyle's Flowers in Gladwin for 11 years. The 
former Ava Kaul, she was married to Garman Calhoun March 25, 1938, in 
Paulding, Ohio. He preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1975.
   Surviving are 2 sons, John of Beaverton and Murray of Comstock Park; 6 
daughtsers, Janet Whitmer, Mrs. Michael (Pamela) Cingano, Mrs. Greg (DeLynn) 
Roehrs, Mrs. Bryan (Andrea) Redman and Mrs. Joseph (Jill) O'Rourke of 
Beaverton and Mrs. James (Lorraine) Veldman of Sawyer; one brother, John Kaul 
of Beaverton; one sister, Irene Grigg of Clare; 18 grandchildren, 8 great 
grandchildren. A daughter, Linda Longstreth, preceded her in death April 28, 
1978.
   Services were held today, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, 
Beaverton Chapel. The Rev. David Stewart officiated and burial was in the 
Beaverton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or the American Cancer 
Society.
