Carnahan, 83, of Gladwin died Saturday, Feb. 17,1979 in the Gladwin Area Hospital following a long illness.Born in Gladwin on April 5, 1895, he had spent his lifetime in Gladwin County. Mr. Carnahan was a vetran of WWI, Gladwin Barracks 3421, He retired in 1961 from the Gladwin County Road Commission. He and the former Esther Durham were married on Dec. 18, 1954 in Gladwin.Surviving besides his wife, are 3 sons, Daniel of Clio, Dale of Seattle Washington & Charles of St.Charles. One daughter; Mrs. Harold (Fern) Prentice of Merideth; one brother Ray of Gladwin; 2 sisters, Mrs. Maude Basner of Flint & Mrs. Ethel Dennings of Gladwin; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at 2p.m. from Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. Elder Sam Ash officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetary. Additional Comments: Ernie is burried on the east side up on the hill with both of his wives. My mother (Mabel Lucille Bruner)is burried on her parents lot at the bottom of the hill. Ernie's first wife was my mother's sister.
