Carpenter, 61, passed away Sunday morning, November 3, at the Saginaw General Hospital where she had been a patient for two weeks. She was born June 10, 1907, at South Whitley, Ind. In 1912 she came with her parents, Henry A. and Alice E Rau to Beaverton where she spent her lifetime. She was married to Clarence Carpenter February 17, 1929 at Beaverton. A teacher, Mrs. Carpenter spent the past several years teaching in Midland, Gladwin and Clare County, last teaching in the Amble School in Clare County. She was a member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren where she has been a faithful teacher in the church school. Surviving besides her husband Clarence are one son, Edward of Beaverton; and one daughter Mrs. Harold (Joyce) McKellar of Saginaw; five grandchildren; two brothers, Earl and George Rau of Gladwin; five sisters, Mrs. Grace Ward and Miss Elma R. Rau of Beaverton, Mrs. Carlton (Fay) Lanphierd and Mrs. Alice Pearl Ward of Midland, and Mrs. Perley (Vida) Arnold of Lakeland, Fla. Funeral services are being held Wednesday (today) at 1:00 p.m. at the Beaverton Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Arthur Whisler and Henry List officiating. Burial will be made in the Dale Cemetery.
