Lydia W. Castle, 71, of 208 Doane St., Beaverton, died Tuesday, March 18, in 
the Midland Hospital Center. Born in Secord Township Dec. 24, 1914, she left 
Gladwin County years ago and moved back 6 years ago from Keego Harbor. Mrs. 
Castle was a sales clerk for Sears-Roebuck in Pontiac for 25 years until 
retiring in 1979. She was an avid bowler and golfer. The former Lydia 
Witkoske, she was married to Earl Castle Nov. 24, 1935, in Pontiac. He 
preceded her in death Aug. 4, 1978.
   Surviving are 2 step-children, one brother, Arthur of Stafford, Conn.; 5 
sisters, Mrs. Martha Knapp, Mrs. Alma LeVee, Mrs. Edna May and Mrs. Rena 
Metzger of Beaverton and Mrs. Pauline Scheer of Clare; 2 step-brothers, Ray 
Longstreth of Beaverton and Gerald Longstreth of Loomis; and 3 step-sisters, 
Mrs. Opal Early and Mrs. Frances Dubey of Detroit and Mrs. Arthella Land of 
Florida. A brother, Adolph Witkoske preceded her in death this year and a 
sister, Nettie Ervine, in 1974.
   Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, 
Beaverton Chapel. The Rev. Mark Moore officiated and burial was in the Dale 
Cemetery.
