William S. Cornell, 75, of Beaverton, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at the 
Aleda M. Lutz, Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Saginaw. He 
was born Feb. 6, 1926, to Frank and Maude (Mound) Cornell in Beaverton. On 
Dec. 7, 1965 he married Nettie (Yager) Cornell. He was a carpenter and was 
employed with Bectal Power, Midland. William was a lifetime resident of 
Gladwin County. He was a veteran serving in WWII with the United States Air 
Force. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 7303 and Olson Community Church 
in Midland.
     William is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Nettie Cornell of 
Beaverton; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Brad Leosh of Oscoda, sons 
and daughters-in-law, Ron and Sue Cornell of Beaverton, Duane and Paula 
Cornell of Saginaw and Tim and Susette Cornell of Reed City; grandchildren, 
Hayli Kirby, Heather Leosh, Heath Leosh, Justin, Jason and Briana Cornell, 
Lisa, Shane and Kolette Cornell, Tosanna Regan and Christopher Regan; great-
grandchildren, Sydney Leosh, Devon Kirby and Alexis Cornell; sisters, Hazel 
White of Beaverton, Kate Stillwagon of Beaverton, Helen Yager of Shields, June 
Buck of Gladwin, Viola Silence of Panama Beach, Fla. and several nieces and 
nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
