EDNA EVANS Mrs. Edna E. Evans, 88, of Beaverton Township, died Saturday, April 25, in the Midland Hospital following a long illness. Born in Milford Center, Ohio, on Feb. 26, 1882, she came to Gladwin County in 1914 and settled on a farm with her husband in the Lyle community. Mrs. Evans taught school for several years in Ohio and Gladwin County. She was active in community affairs and organizations. Through her labors, a Sunday School was organized and met in the school house until a church was built. The former Eda Walke, she was married to A.C.P. Evans on May 26, 1910, in Union County, Ohio. He preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 1968. Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Virginia McCullock, of Beaverton and Mrs. Esther Mattison, of Detroit; five sons, Sanford, of Columbus, Ohio, Raymond, of Port Clinton, Ohio, Hubert, of Gladwin, Morris and Wayne, of Beaverton; 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. One son, Pennington, died in infancy. Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home. The Rev. A. H. Keesler officiated and burial was in the Beaverton Cemetery.
