Foster, 84, of 4775 N. Eastman Rd., Midland, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1989, in the MidMichigan Regional Medical Center, after a long illness. Born in Temple, April 4, 1905, he lived in Beaverton for 21 years until moving to Midland in September. Mr. Foster was a supervisor for Dow Chemical Co. in the pipe shop until retiring in May 1968 after 35 years. He was a member of the Torrence, Calif. Masonis Lodge. Mr. Foster was a musician and played in bands in Midland, Gladwin and Roscommon counties for many years. He was also an avid hunter and firsherman. Mr. Foster and the former Louisa Thorton were married July 8, 1925, in Midland. Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, George of Hope and Richard of Sanford; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Carole) Towner of St. Helen; a brother, Eugene of Midland; a sister, Ethel Smith of Midland; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. A son, Robert, preceded him in death. Rites will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. Burial will be in the Tobacco Township Cemetery.
