Gladwin County Record
Irene Gennette, 80, of Beaverton, died Sept. 6, 2003, at home in Beaverton 
following a long illness. She was born Oct. 19, 1922, to Ross and Cora 
(Dorland) Shelman in Detroit. A homemaker, she moved to Gladwin County in 1977 
from Farmington Hills. She married Tony Gennette Aug. 14, 1937 in Brightmore, 
Mich. He predeceased her in 1997. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church and Gladwin Eagles Aerie 3292. 
Surviving are a daughter, Vickey Reynolds of Beaverton; three sons and 
daughters-in-law, Ross and Cindy Gennette of Plymouth, Larry and Cheri 
Gennette of Livonia, and Daniel and Tina Gennette of Gladwin; 15 
grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Schriber of 
Beaverton; and several nieces and nephews. 
She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, as well as her husband. 
Funeral Services were Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church in Gladwin with Rev. Patrick Jankowiak officiating. Burial was in 
Arbutus Cemetery in Beaverton. Visitation was held Sunday, Sept. 7 from 5 p.m. 
to 9 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 8 from noon until 9 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home in 
Gladwin., and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church.
