L. V. Soldan conducted funeral services Sunday afternoon at the Lyle church for James Gibson of Beaverton township, who died Friday night, September 18. Burial services were at Beaverton cemetery. Mr. Gibson had been in failing health the past three years but was able to get around the farm until last week. He was born June 18, 1865, at Montreal, Quebec. When 28 years old he came to Port Huron, Michigan, and two years later to Trenton, where he lived until 1922 when he moved to Beaverton township, Gladwin county, where he has since engaged in farming. He was highly respected by all who knew him and honest in all his dealings. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Harriet Matthews Gibson, one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Stuehr, who lives on a farm near Coleman, and two sons, Stephen and Arthur, at home.
