He was born Oct. 26, 1927 to William and Laura (Conklin) Grant in Beaverton and he was a lifelong resident of Gladwin County. He worked as an instrument man at Dow Chemical. He was a member of Local 85 and worked as a pipefitter, retiring from Johnson Control in Saginaw. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He married Vi Gunderman on June 6, 1950 in Angola, Indiana. She survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Sue (Joe) Mishler of Sanford and Jan (Ken) Hudson of Beaverton; two sons, Dan (Patty) Grant of Beaverton and Tom (Marcy) Grant of Beaverton; grandchildren, Jeni and Mark Grove, Saly and Jason Hitsman, Laura and Gavin Brandon, Missy and Ryan Schmidt, Mindy and Brent Mercer, Adam Mishler and fiance Amada Opbroek, Kurt and Erin Mishler, Becky Grant, Lindsey and Greg Grant-DeLisle, Lacey Grant, Matt and Allison Hudson, and Alyssa Hudson; Great grandchildren, Grant Brandon, Hunter Mercer, and Brianne Mishler; two sisters, Eva Fuller of Ann Arbor and Leora (Rol) Gunderman of Clare; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Grant of Sanford; three brothers, Bert (Jessie) Grant of Beaverton, Bill (Betsy) Grant of Beaverton, Richard (Hazel) Grant of Beaverton; a brother-in-law, Darwin Grove of Beaverton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Grove; a brother, Wilbur Grant; and a brother-in-law, Alvin Fuller. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home in Beaverton with the Rev. Henry List officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Tobacco Township (Dale) Cemetery in Beaverton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beaverton Church of the Brethren.
