Hartley, 72, of 3864 Ward Rd., All-Bright Shores, died Monday, June 29, at his home after a long illness. Born in Bay County June 4, 1915, he came to Gladwin County in 1965 from Flint. Mr. Hartley was an electrician at Buick Motors in Flint and retired in 1965 after 30 years. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Flint UAW Local 599, the Gladwin County VFW and Albright Shores Eagles Club 3655. Mr. Hartley and the former Bernice Davis were married in 1938 in Bay County. She died in 1972. He then married the former Virginia Pagett in 1973 in Bay County. She preceded him in death in 1985. Surviving are one son, Sgt. Major Michael Hartley, Langley AFB, W. Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Marshall (Sharon) Durr of College Station, Texas; his step- mother, Mrs. Agnes Hartley of Clio; one brother, Lee of Beaverton; one sister, Mrs. Marie McDougall of Lake George; and 7 grandchildren. A son, Douglas, died July 12, 1982. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. Burial will be in the Billings Township Cemetery. Visitation is afternoon Wednesday.
