DROWNS IN POOL

   A 3-year-old Tobacco Township child drowned Wednesday evening while his 
father was cleaning the family swimming pool. Todd A. Hartner of 5535 S. M-18, 
was pronounced dead at 7:05 p.m. at the Gladwin Area Hospital after measures 
to revive the child failed, according to Gladwin Sheriff's officers.
   Deputies reported the child was playing by the pool when his father, Max C. 
Hartner, turned and walked to a shed thinking his son was following him. The 
boy was submerged about five minutes before mouth to mouth resusitation was

TODD ANDREW HARTNER

   Todd Andrew Hartner, 3, of Beaverton, drowned Wednesday, May 19, after he 
fell into the swimming pool at the home of his parents at 5535 S. M-18, 
Beaverton. He was born on February 17, 1973, in Midland, and was a member of 
Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin.
   Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Hartner Jr.; two brothers, 
Michael and David, both at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Hartner Sr. of 
Beaverton and Mr. and Mrs. George Wright of Saginaw; great grandmother, Mrs. 
Margareth Dietrich of Saginaw and great grandfather, Earl Floud of Hemlock.
   Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. from Our Savior Lutheran Church. The 
Rev. Herbert Biermann officiated and burial was in Dale Cemetery. Arrangements 
were in charge of the Mathews Funeral Home. Gladwin County Record dated 05-26
