Ruth E. Hicks, 90, died March 19, 2002. She was born Nov. 9, 1911 to Orrell 
and LaVesta Wilcox. She attended Spring Arbor Seminary and Central Michigan 
University. Ruth taught at Mesick Consolidated Schools and Beaverton Rural 
Schools. She was a member of the Beaverton United Methodist Church.
   Ruth had 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She 
especially enjoyed reading the "Little House" books to her grandchildren. Ruth 
was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Merwin Hicks, in 1968; and 
two sisters, Helen and Grace.
   She is survived by two sons, Jerry Hicks(Sally) of Beaverton, and Steve 
Hicks (Linda) of Beaverton; three daughters, Ruth Ann Miller (Dick) of 
Freeland, Linda Burr (Tom) of Perrinton, and Peggy McKimmy (Tom) of Beaverton; 
and one sister, Lucille Neilson, of Florida.
   Funeral services were held Friday March 22, 2002 at Sisson Funeral Home 
with pastor James Rule presiding. Burial took place at Beaverton Cemetery. The 
family requests that memorials by made for the Beaverton United Methodist 
Church Womens Group.
