Hunter, 91, well known Beaverton resident and former city clerk, died Thursday, Oct. 22, in the Masonic Home in Alma, following a long illness. Born in Chesaning on October 2, 1890, she came to Gladwin County in 1932, from Oakley. Miss Hunter served as Beaverton City Clerk for 24 years until she retired in 1966. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star No. 386 and a Past Matron. A longtime member of the Beaverton Methodist Church, she was organist and church treasurer and a member of the Women's Society United Methodist Women. Miss Hunter was also a well known artist and had many of her paintings displayed. Two brothers preceded her in death, Robert D. on October 31, 1978 and Joseph L. on November 12, 1979. Services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Beaverton United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bruce Hatch officiated and burial was in the Beaverton Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Hall Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Beaverton Methodist Church or the Michigan Masonic Home, Alma.
