William was born May 7, 1921 in Cushing, Oklahoma to the late Leroy and Virginia Kennedy. Virginia later married Earl Blades. William was well known in the community as “Trapper Bill.” He was also a farmer. William was an avid hunter, fisherman and baseball fan. He did many great things in his life, including working on the Alaskan Pipeline. William received a purple heart and two bronze stars in WWII with the 10th Mountain Division. William is survived by one sister, Myra Scoby of Mount Clemens; one step sister, Jeanne (George) Rieley of Lake City; niece Debbie Johnson; and several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Barbara Morgan; and two step brothers, Mike Blades and Adrian Blades. Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 28 at the Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin. Rev. Lynn Chappell officiated. Burial was in the Dale Cemetery in Beaverton.
