Claud F. Kent, 85, of 4753 Martin Rd., Billings Township, died Thursday, Nov. 
24, in the Midland Hospital Center following a long illness. Born in Billings 
Township on Dec. 21, 1897, he had spent his lifetime here. He was an auton 
mechanic for Colbeck Chevrolet in Beaverton for 38 years until retiring in 
1963. He was a member of the Beaverton F.& A.M. Lodge 453 and the Billings 
Missionary Church. He was associated with his father in the operation of a 
store on Kent Rd. until it closed in 1929. Mr. Kent was a member of the 
Billings School District No. 1 board of education for 36 years and the 
Beaverton board of education for 8 years. He also served as Billings Township 
clerk for over 20 years. Mr. Kent was married to the former Iva Barden on Dec. 
23, 1917, in Marshall. 
   Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 daughtes, Mrs. William (Claudene) 
Kinnaird of Northville and Mrs. Pearson (Barbara) Wade of Boise, Idaho; one 
brother, Millard of Beaverton; 2 sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Miller of Moran and Mrs. 
Nina Erskine of Hemlock; and 5 grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Lorraine 
Mukensnable, preceded him in death in March 1983. Services were held Sunday at 
2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel. The Rev. Dana Lane 
officiated and burial was in the Billings Township Cemetery.
