Millard S. "Mike" Kent, 89, of Beaverton, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998 at 
MidMichigan Medical Center after a brief illness. He was a lifetime resident 
of Gladwin County. He attended Gladwin County Normal and Centrail Michigan 
College. Following college, he taught school in Gladwin County for 11 years. 
He was also a licensed electrician. 
   He worked in the instrument department at the Dow Chemical Company for 33 
years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the Billings Missionary Church. 
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening.
   Besides his wife, Julia, he is survived by one daughter, Charlene and 
husband Richard Brelsford of South Carolina; two sons, Millard M. and wife 
Mary Lou of Midland, and William F. and wife Joan of Beaverton; five 
grandchildren, Jennifer, Carter, Khristopher, Kraig, and Kevin; six great-
grandchildren, Jordan, Haleigh, Benjamin, Noah, Erik, Mitchell; and several 
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nina and Evelyn; 
and one brother, Claude.
   Services were conducted by Rev. E. Duane Aelick of Seymour, Ind., a 
relative of the Kent family, officiating. Burial was in Billings Township 
cemetery, Monday. Memorials may be made to the Billings Missionary Church.
