Martin Rd., Beaverton, died Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Gladwin Area Hospital. Born in Cook County, Chicago, Ill., on March 27, 1918, she came to Gladwin County in 1945. Mrs. Kern was employed at the Gladwin Hospital for 21 years until she retired in 1972. She was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, and the Ladies Aid and the Gladwin Hospital Auxiliary. The former Anna Beller, she was married to Theodore Kern on March 13, 1935, in Fairgrove. Besides her husband, she is survived by 4 sons, Theodore Jr., of Beaverton, Gerome and Gregory of Ventress, La. and Frederick of Saginaw; 4 daughters, Mrs. William (Caroline) Foster of Midland, Mrs. Joseph (Marilyn) Major of Ventress, La., Mrs. Rance (Kathleen) Krahner of Gladwin and Renee, at home; 5 brothers, Hank of Caro, Fred and Casper of Fairgrove and John and Alex of Akron; 3 sisters, Mrs. Katie Gorde of Silverwood, Mrs. Millie Kukulske of Vassar and Mrs. Molly Massoll of Fairgrove; 9 grandchildren and one great grandson. Services were held today, Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Our Savior Lutheran Church. The Rev. Herbert Bierman officiated and burial was in the Dale Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Mathews Funeral Home.
