Killian, 95, of Beaverton, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997 at MidMichigan Regional Medical Center-Gladwin, after a long illness. Born May 11, 1901 in Woodland, Michigan, she lived in Beaverton most of her life. Ruth was employed by Lane's Dry Cleaners, Beaverton as a clerk, retiring in 1969. She also taught school and was a telephone operator for many years in Beaverton. She was a life member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren. The former Ruth VanDyke married Lavon George Killian, Oct. 29, 1922 in Beaverton. He preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1967. Surviving are two daughters, Muriel and husband Ken Wint of Gladwin; Dolores and husband Don Turow of Shelbyville, Ind., four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A grandson, Donald Turow preceded her in death. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Brethren, Beaverton, with Mr. Robert Schnepp, officiating. Burial was in Tobacco Township (Dale) Cemetery, Beaverton. Arrangements were handled by Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton chapel.
