King, 86, of Beaverton, died suddenly Monday, Jan. 15, 2001 at Saint Marys Medical Center in Saginaw. Born May 3, 1914 in Rochester, he was the son of Mark and Hannah (Ostrum) King. He was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County. Laurain married the former Lola Crawford, Oct. 11, 1939 in Beaverton. He was a pipe fitter for Dow Corning in Midland, retiring in 1976 after 33 years. He was a life member of the Coleman Masonic Lodge. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Douglas and wife Caroline of Beaverton; one daughter, Christine S. and husband David Bennett of Beaverton; two granddaughters, Kimberly and husband Greg Abbas, and Tamela King, all of Beaverton; one great-granddaughter, Allysa Ann Abbas of Beaverton; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton with Rev. Henry List officiating. Burial will be in the Beaverton Cemetery, Beaverton. A special Masonic service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the donors favorite charity.
