Kirkwood, 74, of 4632 Henry Rd., Beaverton, died suddenly Sunday, June 22, at the Midland Hospital Center. Born in Hopkinton, Iowa, June 15, 1912, he moved to Gladwin County in 1971 from Livonia. Mr. Kirkwood was a school teacher for Wayne Public Schools for 27 years until retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Beaverton Masonic Lodge 453 and the Congregational Church of Livonia. Mr. Kirkwood and the former Rose Malcolm were married April 10, 1937, in Albia, Iowa. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Malcolm of Livonia; one daughter, Jean Stockton of Arvada, Colo.; one brother, Russell of Hebron, W. Va.; and 5 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today, Wednesday, at 7:30 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton Chapel, with the Rev. Henry List officiating.
