Knapp, 75, of 141 Tonkin St., Beaverton, died Thursday, Nov. 27, in the Midland Hospital Center after a long illness. Born in Gladwin County Sept. 5, 1911, he had spent most of his life here. Mr. Knapp was a retired carpenter for Dow Chemical Co. and a member of the Beaverton Church of the Brethren. Mr. Knapp and Vivian Roback were married in 1932, in Beaverton. She preceded him in death Oct. 26, 1967. He then married Martha VanDyke July 26, 1968, in Beaverton. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert of Dexter; 2 daughters, Mrs. William (Joan) Brennan of Southfield and Mrs. Thomas (Nancy) Deal of Villa Park, Ill.; 2 step-daughters, Mrs. Charles (Edna) Beaver of Gilbert, Ariz and Mrs. Daniel (Marlene) Joseph of Onekama; his mother, Mrs. Lillian Knapp of Millington; 2 brothers, Jack of Harrison and Donald of Texas; 4 sisters, Bessie Crook and Mabel Gombosi of Midland, Ila Bauder of Millington and Beth Hamlet of Alger; 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild. A brother, Victor, preceded him in death. Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Beaverton Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Michael Clark officiated and burial was in the Tobacco Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
