SERVICES ARE HELD FOR VALLIE KNOX

   Vallie V. Knox, 59, died at his home in Beaverton city on Sunday afternoon, 
following a serious illness after an operation two months ago in a Saginaw 
hospital. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Hall Funeral 
Home. Burial was in the Dale cemetery. The Rev. John K. Osborne, of the 
Beaverton Presbyterian church, assisted by the Rev. John Miller, of the 
Wagarville Methodist church officiated. Services at the grave were undere the 
auspice of the Beaverton Masonic Lodge.
   Mr. Knox was born in Beaverton on February 14, 1888, the son of John M. and 
Julia F. Knox, and has been a life-long resident of Gladwin county. On 
December 21, 1912 he was married to Miss Lesta M. Searson, of Findlay, Ohio, 
in Windsor, Ontario.
   Mr. Knox was on a leave of absence at the time of his death from the 
Michigan State Highway Department, with whom he had been employed for several 
years. He served as County Surveyor for many years and was Supervisor for the 
2nd Ward in Beaverton for several years; he also worked for the County Road 
Commission at one time. He was a member of the Beaverton Lodge F. and A.M.
   Surviving are his wife, Lesta; two daughters, Mrs. Wanda Staley, of Coburn, 
Pennslyvania and Mrs. Jacque Aubel, of Saginaw; one half-brother, J. J. Dow, 
of Toledo, Ohio; one half-sister, Mrs. John Rich, of Beaverton; two adopted 
sisters, Mrs. Lois Buck and Mrs. Jessie Ray, both of Gladwin; also three 
grandchildren. Pallbearers were Charles Brown, Donald Ross, Walter Ross, R. L. 
Johnson, Joseph Bell and John Musser.
